Florida Keys
Spent the past few days paddling in the Keys, eight days, eighty eight nautical miles.
It's a beautiful area to paddle and the snapshots below hardly do justice to the unusual colors and extensive wildlife.
The locals said the winter had produced days of unusually cold water, with fish unable to survive piled up on the beaches by the basketful.
Still I encountered several species of shark (sand, nurse, bonnethead), rays, barracuda, needlefish, flying fish, bottlenose dolphin and numerous others.
The birds were amazing. Pelicans, terns, cormorants, ibis, great white and blue heron, egret, osprey, vulture, roseate spoonbills, and others. And everywhere wonderful colors of turquoise and green, blue and purple waters.
Nice time!
