Omage

Oh, the addiction that is boatbuilding. Spent the last few weeks sketching out a touring kayak to replace my beloved Nordkapp, hoping to preserve some of the handling characteristics but shed a few pounds (my Nordy hefts in at 63 pounds, but I'm guessing I can build an 18 foot boat under 45 lbs., or perhaps a little more in expedition layup with a day hatch). The new boat will be my Omage, a tribute to generations of Valley expedition boats, in western red cedar and sitka spruce.
The stations are now done, although the deck side will need more work.  Once I sort out the lines and rocker for the bow and stern forms, I'll be ready to assemble everything on a strongback and start stripping.
